I grew up in a career military family. I was born in Germany, and my
family and I traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United
States. A typical horse-crazy young girl, I began riding lessons at age
12 and received an uncommon riding education from a retired cavalry
sergeant while we were stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Within a few
years, horses—a hobby my parents always thought I’d outgrow—would
become my career.

After graduating with a degree in equestrian science from William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri, I headed east and promptly put my degree to good use breaking and galloping Thoroughbreds in Orange, Virginia. I was young enough to think this was fun! During the slower summer months, I worked the yearling sales in Kentucky and New York. After spending several years as a groom/showman, I became a barn foremanwhile I continued to ride in the winter months.

I had the good fortune to work for one of the most respected people in the sales industry. While learning from the best in the business, I honed my knowledge of the sales while strengthening my organizational skills and increasing my understanding of the needs of clients.

However, my priorities changed as my family grew. In 1992 I began my first “office job” with Ben P. Walden Jr. at Vinery. Ben quickly put my sales experience to use by turning over to me the management of Vinery consignments, which I ran for eight productive years—the last five of which Vinery led all consignors to the Keeneland September yearling sale in gross sales.

In 2002, I launched Warrendale Sales, taking the name from the street where I lived in Georgetown, Kentucky. The Warrendale Sales logo is a leaf from a beloved Ginkgo tree that lives on Warrendale Avenue.

A lifelong Lexington resident, I have been involved in the Thoroughbred industry my entire professional career. My extensive background includes co-owning a sales agency, partner in the Mating Service, and managing the office at Nursery Place. I met Kitty Taylor more than 25 years ago when we both worked for Lee Eaton and I recently accepted her offer to work for her at Warrendale Sales. At Warrendale, I use my accounting background to handle all sales accounting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable among other accounting duties.

My desire to work in professional sports led me not to a football or baseball team but back home to the Thoroughbred industry. After graduating from Carson-Newman College in Tennessee with a degree in mass communications with an emphasis on public relations and advertising, I returned home to Georgetown, Kentucky, and began working at a Lexington television station. I produced several programs about Thoroughbred racing and had a strong desire to learn
more about the business. After working at Stonewall Stallions, I joined Warrendale Sales, where I combine my marketing and sales background with my love of the Thoroughbred
industry.

I also am on ESPN’s team that covers Kentucky racing, including Keeneland and the 2006 Breeders’ Cup Thoroughbred Championships at Churchill Downs.

My love of horses began with a pony named Dusty, a gift for my fourth birthday, and has continued throughout my life. While riding on the Anderson University equestrian team, I taught riding at the summer camp at Midway College. After my first summer in Kentucky I fell in love with the Bluegrass and moved here permanently. I foaled mares at Shadwell Farm and later was a veterinary tech at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital spending two years in the pharmacy. I followed my future husband to his home in New Zealand working for my father-in-law’s racing stable before returning to Kentucky to work in the office at Highland Farm. At Highland I had the good fortune to meet and later work with Kitty Taylor. I have worked for Warrendale in one form or another since its inception. Currently I am responsible for sale crews, as well as other sale related assignments.
